I need to understand that all students are different and finding out which online method works best for each student will allow me to create lessons that all students will benefit from.  

It's important to use a variety of technologies, but assess the benefit of using them

A variety of assessments are good throughout the course.  For instance, a pre-assessment will let you know what the students know.  This will allow the instructor to design assignments to fit the needs of the students.  

Assessments and communication are key to success in an online forum.  

Creating a dynamic syllabus is a great introduction to the course.  

Making sure that the courses flow the same that makes it consistent and easy to follow. 

I learned that the most communication that will be received from students is email.  

Making sure that I am visible in the discussions and giving support to all students. 

I have learned that it's a great idea to post a summary of my achievements, maybe in a short video clip.  This makes it personal to see me and they can put a name with a face.  Another thing, I will have my students post a short biography for each class.  

All instructors and students are different.  Students will use the modules to their abilities and most feel comfortable in this setting.  It provides somewhat of an anonomity to the student.  Online learning and teaching takes times and once all get comfortable with the layout learning can be fun and achieved.
