Activity
Quick starts include a good lighthearted opening statement r event to get the class going. Its always a good start to break the ice each day with a thought provoking, potentially uplifting statement fact or event.
As instructors and people who have experienced potentially more scenarios and events share our stories in education, we can still learn from the student and their stories as we discuss cases and events.
Monitor the success and failures of the class as you go along. At the end of the day, reflect on the events and actions that occurred.
Keeping the student engaged on their level is key to their success and learning. Its just like music genres, we all do not like the same music.
Music has always brought poeple together. Non specific music avoids personal internal conflict and class arrangement facilities enhanced learning.
if we gain the students attention and redirect their focus through different and unorthodox methods, it makes it possible to keep the student on their toes and paying attention.
When material is lengthy in lecture, break up into 15 minute blocks with activities. Though I may need to develop additional activities, it seems as it is necessary to achieve higher learning for the students.
Have I conveyed the message about the direction and do they leave at the end of day 1 knowing their objectives and have the confidence to succeed in my class. That is what I picked up on the most.
I think the ability to plan, breathe, relax and relate is critical to a functioning class environment that enables learning.
We must always display passion with our professionalism. Passion is contagious and motivates our students. As others have said, leading, modeling, motivating and managing are prime things to maintain a forward leaning classroom.
