An awesome way would be for each student to have his or her own tablet with video animation images and videos to follow along with the course material.
We use the surface tablets at my work. they are nice because I can create a power point which they can access through a shared file. it also has a usb port so i can pull information from different resources.
Integrating technology can be hard if your school is not on top of their IT. Smart boards are nice to have, but there must be staff training. I have been working hard to stay up to date with all the technology that is out there. I know that technology is good when it comes to teaching and learning. The more processes one has to teach with the better, as we know all students learn different.
I let my class take note with their phones, and tablets. I have them lookup information that we are learning in class. I have them do a power point on what they have learned in class.
Many tech-savvy teachers I know have used Microsoft PowerPoint to create review games based on famous game shows, including “Jeopardy,†“The Weakest Link,†and “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?†These templates are available online for teachers to download and revise, including their own content.
When doing recipe costing or sales analysis I help my students to build spreadsheets that allow them to test many possible scenarios without having to recalculate all their work every time they make a change.
this one has been easy for us at MMI. all of the manufacturer service manuals and all other technical documents have been transferred over to digital formatting. so in addition to teaching them how to use a service manual we get to teach them how to use and navigate pdfs and things like that
What is a diagnostic computer? Can such computers be beneficial across multiple disciplines? What types of technology do you use with this computer?
Some innovative ways that technology is integrated in the course's I teach include:
1. Embedding video clips that coincide with the lecture into Powerpoints;
2. For group presentations, I encourage students to think outside the box; rather than use standard Powerpoint slides to convey a message, create a video; and
3. During classroom discussions, I throw out a question, and have students go online to find possible answers to what was asked. Not only does it provide the opportunity hear what others have "discovered", but it hones their research skills.
I like to have at least one assignment in class where students are allowed one lifeline. they get to use their laptop, phone, calculator, or any other device to get help.
Sandra,
This is a great idea for implementing technology. What subject(s) do you teach?
Tremayne Simpson
I integrate technology into my classes by having the students research information and place into an appropriate format on the topic I'm teaching.
Youtube! Thank goodness for technology . I have found that intergrating Youtube and other tech sites help with student learning and participation in the classroom . Since they all have smart phones why not let them use them for learning instead of texting friends ect.
Ive been using social media and a variety of apps
Where I teach, we issue laptops to the learners. We do this because during many of the blocks of instructions, we want the students to have access to the internet. In the structure of the course, we will ask the students to research subjects and present that information to fellow class mates. Often students don't realize that recent changes may have occurred on a subject that is being taught.
I use overheads, lg overhead screens and computer labs. If looking up a regulation I will have them use the computer and do a search on government websites to learn where and why one would utilize certain websites for information gathering.
I have a number of DVDs on massage therapy techniques & procedures that I have bought to help teach my students. I also use youtube.com & massagenerd.com to incorporate a mix of valuable information to help the students learn & to add to & enhance my lessons. These also help me to walk around the class during hands on techniques & be able to be more engaged with the students.
I provide a website for my students to use for math practice when they are outside of class. Khanacademy.org has been a great resource for additional help when the students don't have me available to help them.
I use power points regularly. I like to use online anatomy and physiology games such as labeling, crossword puzzles, word games, and concentration games. This keeps the students involved and active. I also make some questions at the end of my lecture which will help them towards there test.
Power point is the bases of most lectures. However there are a few software programs that you can get off the internet. Prezi and Brain shark to name two. It would be nice to have and automated response system.
