Employer resources & Technology

More times than not Employers, guest speakers reaffirm our course teachings and excites the students as to the information being taught.
Also employers give the students a first hand introduction to what they can expect from the employees stand point.

I agree Even though you may know exacttly your guest speaker is going to talk about. This adds another piece of coorberating evidence on what you are teaching. I also like the fact students can interact with someone actually in the field.

Yes, a guest speaker can be interesting by engaging, adding to the the overall knowledge of the class. Be sure the guest stays on time frame and specific lesson plan for guest, if not a guest speaker can get off track and use up valuable time in lesson plan.

I always helps to have employers as guest speakers because it gives the students a connection to the industry and gives them hope for a job after graduation.

In this day and age of limited economic growth, having a guest speaker who gets a favorable impression about your class and/or university can do wonders for your students' employability. Make the guest speaker feel special.

My students have always enjoyed hearing from guest speakers who are grads of the program. When I observe the interaction between the guest and students, both parties appear to be engaged. I always leave time for the guest to answer questions and this almost always opens up the flood gates. The students are relaxed and they ask relevant and pertinent questions regarding job expectations. I've never encountered a visiting grad who didn't have an enjoyable experience with my students. It's truly a win-win scenario.
