What are the limits of instructional style

I wonder where the limits of different styles lie. there are som many ways to get the information out. I wonder sometimes how animated you can be and still maintain class control and stay on your message

I push things to the limit and how do I know when to stop read the class. I am loud, arrogant, obnoxious, conceited, oh and oppinionated. Anyway thats what mom tells me I have started many classes with that and it usually gets a chuckle but then they know they may see or here somethings that are out there according to conventional thinking. It gets students going and I HAVE FUN with it so push the boundaries the students at least with me seem to have fun and it gets them involved too.

Hi Terry,
The key to animation by the instructor is that animation must match the personality and teaching style of the instructor. Also, being excited about your field helps to motivate students. On the other hand just using a loud voice or talking fast does not reflect excitement. You have to find what works most effectively with your personality and the personality of your students. Good luck with your classes.

I start my classes on the stricter side and adjust as I watch how the class responds.

My experience is that you have to individualize the style for each class. Each class has a "pot stirer" and depending on how much the class plays into this person, helps to determine the style that I have to use.
