Get Your Students Hired
My goal in introducing my bio is to tell students that any thing is possible for them.
I believe giving the students my bio shows them how my schooling is not much different than their schooling. And illustrates the career choices that can be made.
For me, it really allows them to ask questions about working in the different parts of the industry. I changed majors in college to be where I am now so it helps with students that changed majors to relate with my experiences.
Not only does my past experience help to let my students know that I am qualified to be teaching them but also lets them know they can ask questions about the industry they might have. Letting them know about a variety of positions held also lets them know that there are many facets to just about any career-keep an open mind.
I agree that it's a good idea to tell them about yourself and show how different paths lead to a profession. Teaching is my 3rd, but previous experience helps qualify for it.
