Classroom Settings

Your classroom should always feel ware so that the students will feel more comfortable.

Jeannette,
yes, our students should feel welcome & safe in our classrooms.

I also agree that you want yourself and your student to feel safe in the classroom and have a good learning environment.

Kristin,
this really is an important aspect that greatly assists in the learning process.

I'll never forget one of my history instructors classrooms. The walls were all painted different colors, with important historical figures painted on the walls and inspirational quotes from those figures right beside them. It made you want to take an interest in the history.

Melissa,
I think we can use our rooms (when possible) to show our interest in & passion for our subjects.

I like to rearrange the desks in the classroom. My students know already when they enter the classroom if they work in groups, pairs or individually.

Iuliana ,
this is a great efficiency step as then the students can already be prepared to work in these different settings.

Any suggestions for those working in a corporate educational setting where everything that you bring with you to class must be taken with you when you leave? I would like to add things to our walls, but I don't think it's realistic to put them up/ take them down for every class.

Tiffani,
I would agree that this is probably not very practical to bring things with you every time. Although there might be an appropriate poster or model for the subject at hand that could be brought each day for that unit? Perhaps an agreement could be reached that some "easy to hang" hangers could be mounted in the rooms so 1 or 2 posters could be easily hung for each class?
