During the first day of a new class I always tell my students how I consider them all professional technicians at this level of their training and that I will treat them as such. Setting the bar on the first day high and letting them all know they can clear that bar, this sets the correct learning atmosphere for the entire rotation.

I agree. I treat my classroom as a professional environment. Showing up late is unacceptable as it would it would be if they were on a job.
