I believe that some of the advantages are that since the student can view the lectures online they can stop, pause, take notes and replay the video as many times as they like to get the information. Other advantages are that there is practically an endless source of information on the internet, you tube, and instructional information sources that it gives the instructor many resources to choose his lecture content from. Also, if the class involves hands on training on say, a type of procedure using an instrument that it can be reviewed before the lab by the student. This will help both the students and instructor in the lab when learning and teaching the skills.

I like the interactions with the students/groups. Rather than a lecture, being able to have a conversation or discussion on the topics keeps the students attention for longer periods of time. Using Blooms theory, the students come to class with some knowledge and we have more time to expand and apply.

Taking a flipped class has many benefits. For people who haev child care issues or work, not having to go to a school every day is a great benefit.

Good points Kirk. Back when I went to school we did not have the internet we had limited resources. Today with the internet and all the devices you can use with your phone has made a huge difference in how we learn and our sources of information.
More classroom time to implement what is being discussed in digitals
Many of our students are single parents and have children. This gives them an opportunity to further their education but still spend time with loved ones.
The students work on their pace and where when they feel comfortable to concentrate.
Some of the advantages are that students are able to approach material and take it in at their own pass. Material can be viewed privately. Students in the end can examine things in their own way.
Some of the disadvantages are not everyone has access to technologies that can really work for this method of instruction. Individuals from different economic levels, manly the lower economic level, may not have acces to computers and Internet. Students would spend a lot of their homework time in front of a computer.

Advantages to the flipped classroom include allowing the students to set the pace of instruction. This can be especailly helpful when have students with various backgrounds and levels of understanding. At home, they can spend as much or as little time as needed to learn the material and in the classroom, the instructor can build on that foundation. Another advantage is that it allows instructors to facilitate progression through Bloom's Taxonomy so the students can better apply the concepts they have learned.
Some advantages of the flipped classroom is the instructor can have more direct contact with the students, and be more engaged in their learning. Students being able to review the lecture over and over again helps them to retain the information.
I feel the flipped classroom provides more advantages this disadvantages. Teaching in a post secondary education program, where hands on learning and class participation a must, I see having lectures done outside of class and very big advantage. More time for discussion and individual training in class.
It opens up the amount of knowledge that can be gained and put limits. Meaning if the student wants to know more than what is presented by the instructor they are able to go beyond.
In reading through the materials to this course I have a direct comparison to some of the problems I've encountered in class; especially with homework assignments. Some students seem to have difficulties with retention of information once they leave the classroom. I create supplemental videos for them to review, but some will still come to class with work, which is sub par. In some instances it seems like they have not even tried. I feel a benefit to the flipped classroom would be in the production of a homework assignment in class, where both myself and their classmates can assist in the learning process. I have been told that I am intimidating, so having classmates assisting may also alleviate some of this intimidation.
I believe the flipped classroom offers a huge advantage, especially since it allows students to learn the material at their own pace. In the traditional classroom, when you have one or two students that have a difficult time grasping a concept that the rest of the class understanding, taking the time to repeat the information in a different manner can frustrate the majority of the class and slow down progress. The flipped classroom allows the stronger students to move through the content more rapidly, while allowing those having difficulty to pause and replay the information as many times as necessary.
