Motivation

I believe that motivation is the key to any success no matter the situation. I find this to be very beneficial in the classroom setting. I think that the key to motivation is to build relationships with your students to gain their trust. Once you have gained their trust, you can establish the security that they need to become motivated. A motivated student is the most successful student that I have had in my experience. I really enjoyed this course because it has given me some tools on how to handle certain situations to improve security which in turn increases motivation. Best course I have participated in thus far.

Pixie, well stated. Relationships are critical. While it is important we as instructors focus on professional relationships with students it is still the relationship and make the difference between students taking true interest in the subject matter or just being a passive participant within the classroom.

I absolutely agree with you Pixie. With out motivation students tend to take a back seat and not take class serious. Once students trust that you are on their side it makes your class run smoothly.

I really enjoy both subjects of motivation and professional relationships. In our line of technical training we know that you cannot separate the person from the student. So if a student is having a bad day in the classroom it's real nice gesture if we engage the student as to why. Then redirect that circumstance to the classroom lesson. I find this tactic helps them remember to mentally stay in the classroom.
