Immediacy vs. procrastination

It's often difficult for me to find a balance between these two. I find myself usually doing things right away and if i get stressed out, i put things off and ruber band between the two extremes.

I have found that making lists and journals of things to do and prioritizing has made quite the difference and I seem to be building a balance in the last few months.

I have always been a list maker and prioritizer for as long as I can remember. I seem to err on the side of immediacy as an instructor. Just want to get things done. Never a procrastinator.

I agree with you. I find it critical to make lists to help prioritize tasks. I tend to focus on the important things and get them done as soon as possible, but I procrastinate with the less important tasks (then I get stressed out because there are so many small tasks to take care of). I always laugh at myself when I complete something that wasn't on my list because I add it to the list just to cross it off!

Oh I have the same problem! I have found that making a list every Monday before I start work helps tremendously. My list and priority may change a bit during the week but it still helps.

It's good to know that I'm not the only person who has struggled with this. I've had this same issue for some time now. I still don't know when I picked up procrastinating behavior (I hate it).

Once upon a time, I was always organized and on top of my responsibilities (which is a great virtue).

I'm glad I selected this module because it took me back to the basics! I feel empowered and I know I can balance *all* my responsibilities without feeling or getting stressed.

Theresa, Excellent to hear! Sometimes it's important to get back to the basics. It's all too easy to get caught up in complex issues.

Dr. Melissa Read

Hi, Shawn,
You just described me, and I find it quite ironic that I described myself to Dr. Read this way before I read your post. Making to-do lists, using Microsoft Outlook, and the Calendar on Outlook helps me to remember things. But I really like the tip I read in this Module about putting a number beside the task to let me know exactly which one is the most important.
