taking control of your time

this was so good to learn about and to understand! often times we think our time belongs to others and we give so much of ourselves, but we control our time. and we need to develop positive ways to deal with this, from organizing our time in the classroom and with modern technology, for example the computer. defining space and organizing files, learning about procrastinating and immediacy, that really helped me. i will try to put those concepts into my life each day

I think time management is very important in our line of work because it is essential to how well the classroom functions. I enjoyed all topics discussed and feel that I can utilize these techniques on a daily basis.

I agree
I feel that procrastination attributes to gaps in time that puts you behingd your schedule.

We most definately control our time. It is our responsibility to use our time as we see fit. Hopefully it is wisely used. I feel that the more organized you are on a daily basis, the more efficiently our time is used. It allows us to get the important things done and it frees our minds and allows us to think more clearly and have more spare time for things that we choose to do, not have to do. Procrastinating is putting way too much pressure on us. Instructors really need to develop time management not only for themselves but also for their students.

make a list that you can finish within a realistic time frame

You bring up a great point about organizing files. Something so simple as this can really go a long way in helping us stay organized, but also alleviate the stress from taking forever to accomplish a task. Well said!

In my classroom if I get off schedule it causes a huge amount of stress. I have so much to teach in such a little time. I learned very early on that procrastination causes me alot of stress.

Katie, Yes, sometimes getting off schedule by even 5 minutes can cause the rest of your day to feel completely off track. Staying on top of things early in the day can make everything else easier.
