I'm teaching at a school where there is no offices for adjuncts to store books, etc, and I take public transportation at least one way to teach. This next quarter I'll be using three textbooks, so my bags will be heavier than normal. I'm thinking about buying a rolling briefcase to handle the weight of these books + papers, since my shoulders and neck are often not feeling so great at the end of the day. Does anyone have any suggestions for good models to purchase?
Sounds like you have found a way to be crafty and make good organization happen Oriole. Great work! In that office situation, many instructors would throw in the towel. You are unique in having found a way to work with it.
I found a great one as Sam's Club. By Swiss Army. I have the same situation. I have 3 rolling bags, one for sewing an pattern making supplies and one for art supplies and the last one for paperwork and computer classes.
I do have a desk but with no phone, no computer and 1 file draw. Our teachers area looks like a call center I have about 3 feet of space and no place for storage. So it is rolling bags for me.
I have found that my kids' backpack on wheels is easier to manage than a suitcase on mass transportation - it can be thrown on the shoulder when necessary.
Yes, definitely invest in that rolling briefcase Emily. I have one and it makes a world of difference for me. It's so much less stressful when you aren't carrying that extra weight around. Go ahead and do a simple internet search and you'll find many models to choose form.
