Stress
When my students do not turn their homework in on time stress me out. Because I have to go back and make another exam for the student to take.
I do not understand why you would get stressed if a student doesn't turn their homework in on time. That is on them. You just hold them accountable.
I agree. I set standards and do not allow submission of late homework nor makeup quizzes. For missed exams I give student up to 5 days to make up on their own time.
Denise, Expectation setting and rules can go a long way! I'm glad to hear you've put your foot down. Sounds like a health approach for you and your students.

I understand when homework is turned in late, even if the rule is no late homework. I generally will get a long explanation about why it was late. Which then turns into spending my time to listen to the student. This 10 mins could go into my lunch hour and then I feel rushed to eat, use the restroom or breath.
I pretty much agree with you about my standards concerning homework,quizzes/tests- no makeups for quizzes or homework, and missed exams is based on the number of days the student is out: 2 days out,2 days to make it up.
