Students who bring there home situations in the classroom
I had an experience with a student who would always bring there negativity in my classroom how would you deal with this?

Have a firm private conversation with the student to let them know that this type of behavior is not acceptable and must stop, otherwise... and I follow through with what I say.

Try "Sit On It". It is a technique I use when the cannot leave their personal issues outside the classroom.
Always have post-it notes available. The students can write down their personal issues on them and then must stick them to their chairs and "sit on them" for the rest of the class. It is amazing how this gets the issue off of their minds for the class time. You can even have fun with it by playing the "happy days" video clip when introducing this on day one.

I like it! Super idea! I can see how this can ease the tension while students are in class. This is a good tactic to use personally as well.
