Written communication skill are paramount to our industry and are an obstacle for many students who seek to be professionals in the audio industry.  We must do what we can to bridge the gap and develop students written communication skills.

There is a need for teachers to emphasize writing, even in the technical fields. Students are leaving high school with low writing skills, and it is influencing their ability to get and keep jobs in many fields, or it is making graduated students lose credibility in the work force.

The writing process provide a structured approach to guide students. Structured approach, Progressive support, Flexibility, and Skill development. I plan to incorporate these principles by introducing the writing process as a series of steps. Offering scaffolding and support to students as they progress. Emphasizing the importance of revision and proofreading as integral parts of the writing process. Tailoring instruction and assignments to mees the diverse needs and preferences of students. These strategies aim to empower students to become more confident and proficient writers.

I plan on increasing opportunities to help students to improve their writing skills in my class.

Although the class I teach does not currently include any written assignments, the students are taking other courses that require written assignments and I do hear about it! The challenge right now is related to AI and plagiarism. It has been challenging how to grade assignments and to verify if plagiarism occurred or not. I like the idea of the steps for students for the writing process. Students seem to like exact direction and giving them these steps might help relieve some of the anxiety they feel related to a writing assignment.

I think its important to eencourage students to write about their clinical experiences and allow them to express their thoughts, use examples, and apply their foundational knowledge.

Writing across the curriculum.  I think this is one aspect that ACC VN program lacks.  This is a trade school, so students do not receive a degree.  Students are in this school to "get a career".  The development of writing skills would be difficult to tackle as this is a fast paced, computerized learning program.

Writing skills are still important when working in the music industry. There are often times when one may need to write grant proposals, business plans, etc. Therefore having a proper grasp of the written word is key.

Writing is a important aspect of our way of communicating to each other or about a topic, There are many forms and styles of writing , For example writing a letter to grandma is not the same as writing an essay on global warming. but what makes me stop and wonder is when students have a learning disability that has not been addressed yet.

Writing skills are important, even in technical careers, and opportunities can be creative such as presentations and reports, not just papers.

Writing is important component in all disciplines and should be included in all course curricula.
