It's All Greek To Me ...
Socratic questions require you to listen very carefully to the other person to help you judge and phrase your question in a helpful, constructive, and hopefully non-confrontational way.
Eston,
I like this! Socratic questions really helps with critical thinking skills, which many students need help.

Socratic questions are the cornerstone to some learning environments, i.e., in law schools. I find that asking "hypotheticals" on my discussion boards, especially where there is no one right or wrong answer always moves the discussion along in a postive way.
Michael,
Oh yes, I love these questions as well. What better way to teach critical thinking skills when there is no right or wrong answer!!
Shelly Crider
Some of the discussion board questions do not have a right or wrong answer but rather they are fostering a dialog where students can exchange and support their point of view. Of course not everyone agrees on some of the topics and that's when it get interesting. Students have to support their view point with facts.
Elodie,
I like the discussion boards that do not have a right or wrong answer. We all need to think outside the box at times!
