Course Evaluation

Why is Course Evaluation an ongoing process?

Ekwuniru,
There are times when a topic needs to be updated or an Internet link has been broken. These need to be checked on an ongoing process.

Course evaluations can provide your with feedback on areas of the course that are confusing or need improvement.

Jacob,
It is nice to get feedback from the students as we want to improve our classrooms each term.

When I find a "perfect" class I'll have to reconsider, but having never found or developed one yet... there is always room for improvement, tweaking, finding new enhancements, supplemental material that is current and relevant to the student...

Alan,
Good point...I would like to think that all clases have the opportunity for improvement!

In an online course environment we tend to evaluate courses at the end of each term. What is working and what is not. We look for trends such as questions that many students seem to misunderstand or get wrong. Sometimes they need to be re worded. We also include hyperlinks to reading material and websites that can assist the students. Websites are updated all of the time. It is important that we as instructors consistently check to see that our hyperlinks are working and they are directing the students to the material we are intending them to find.

Afrodite,
Thank you for this! Earlier in this thread I shared a story that happened to me. I didn't check my links and one had changed from a motivational clip to a porn star site!! yikes!

Course evaluation is an ongoing process to ensure that we are teaching the latest concepts/tools/theories on a topic. This is important to meet the workforce needs and expectations.

Elodie,
This helps to keep the class moving forward and getting better.
