A Funny Thing Happened To Me On The Way To The Forum ...
In the forums it will really help to keep your whole posts short and on-topic. Instead of one long rambling post that makes many different points, it may be better to write several shorter ones (they may even belong in separate forums).
Eston,
Yes, as most people do not read more than 3-4 sentences at a time before moving on to the next task.

(I like your Subject title.) I think it is important to state requirements for the posts, minimum requirements. What I stress most is that students need to contribute information from which other students might learn whether it be an explanation and/or a link, or examples from their employment or personal life. As long as it meets the minimum word requirement (approximately) and is informative, I am not concerned with the length.
This is a form of cheating right here and now. The topic of the discussion is a takeoff on a title of a movie starring Zero Mostel, Phil Silvers, Buster Keaton, among others. You will notice and the person who dated this title did not give credit to the movie. Is this a form of cheating? Absolutely. Is it acceptable? Absolutely. This is my point. Cheating is relative, no matter how we cut it.
Donald,
Good point....we all have to be careful what we use, not just written work, but images as well.

There is so much talk about distraction while walking, driving, working etc. that seems to be brought on by our 'multi-tasking' mentality of late. I like it when we can focus on the single point or micro view and get students to zero in on the tech, feeling, awareness or other content driver on the topic. When presented with a whole host of options (multi-points) they jump around a lot more as if driven by this multi-task mentality and often loose sight of the key point.
Christopher,
I like this. So many times students do lose sight of the key point!
