Course framework
The course framework is the road map for course development. What are the most important factors to have in your course road map for optimum student learning?
Zara,
There are many factors, but learning outcomes, course content and communication are among the top three. How do you deal with these in your courses?
I teach a course in computer programming where communication is often a challenge. When students don't understand a learning concept, particularly if they can't solve a problem related to creating a program, the stop communicating. Methods that I have employed include proactive communication in anticipation of problems by sending an email prior to the start of the week. The email contains information about the past week lessons, current week lesson information, specific assignment information and hints to solving problems, a grading rubric for the upcoming assignment, and an invitation and reminder to attend the Live Chat. Nelson,
I have taught programming before, but not online. I could see where the communication could be a challenge. Proactive communication is great - along with rubrics. Also, have you tried using Jing or something comparable to record you desktop and voice to develop tutorials? That's been helpful for other courses I have taught. Thanks for your input.
E-learning refers to the use of electronic media and information and communication technologies in education. E-learning is broadly inclusive of all forms of educational technology in learning and teaching. E-learning is inclusive of, and is broadly synonymous with multimedia learning, technology-enhanced learning, computer-based instruction, computer-based training, computer-assisted instruction or computer-aided instruction , internet-based training, web-based training, online education, virtual education, virtual learning environments (which are also called learning platforms), m-learning, and digital educational collaboration. These alternative names emphasize a particular aspect, component or delivery method.
E-learning includes numerous types of media that deliver text, audio, images, animation, and streaming video, and includes technology applications and processes such as audio or video tape, satellite TV, CD-ROM, and computer-based learning, as well as local intranet/extranet and web-based learning. Information and communication systems, whether free-standing or based on either local networks or the Internet in networked learning, underlay many e-learning processes.
Vimlarani,
E-learning can be a very broad term. Thanks for giving the examples and helping others understand what all is involved in the process.
