It was nice to learn about the advantages and disadvantages for synchronous and asynchronous discussions. Instructors should allow their students to provide feedback about what they're learning and be open to suggestions.
I thought it was interesting to learn about asynchronous discussions as well as learning about constructive feedback in student posts/comments.
It was really interesting to see the different kind of learners. I am more of a competitive learner and fast typer so I would dominate synchronous learning. It was great to get a better understanding so I could provide a fair and engaging environment for all of my students.
To ensure clear communication and avoid misunderstandings, I should use visual cues like color, bolding, and smiley faces in my responses.
There are advantages and disadvantages for synchronous and asynchronous discussions. As instructors we are obliged to search and to apply the proper discussion format that best promotes learning. After all, the primary goal of teaching is to enable students to learn their subjects in the best manner possible.
Was interesting to hear challenges of synchronous learning when that is the more traditional approach.
For my class discussions, I use asynchronous discussion boards and also have hold video sessions with all my students. I wasn't aware that instructors used synchronous text chat rooms to have discussions. I can see how there are many disadvantages to this approach.

I learned that it is important to allow for time for small talk during the first 5 min of discussion and the last five min of discussion. I will implement this practice if I teach an online course.
Main thing I take from this course is deliver is key to students not taking offense to being redirected. Using gesture to ensure they were on track but might have missed something this is good to keep in mind. And being timely responsible for replying to let them know you see them.
It is helpful to use short and concise language to convey concepts. It is also okay to use bold, italics, underline, emojis, or certain abbreviations that the students would understand to convey emphasis or tone.
