Good Citizenships
As an online instructor I help my students with good online citizenship providing the course syllabus. The course syllabus helps students with course expectations. I also provide students with information regarding plagiarism and cyber-plagiarism.

Shundra,
Great strategy. You have to post that information and remind students repeatedly. You also have to model it.
Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Shundra,
The course syllabus is a great tool to provide that information. I take it a step further when it comes to expectations. In addition to the syallabus, I post additional announcements that break down the information. As an example, I post expectations on academic honesty and class participation. It may seem redundant, but sometime redundancy can be a good thing.
Dale,
You have a great strategy. Most instructional design models will tell you to put items of importance in multiple places.

The course syllabus is no longer posted in our classrooms. While a syllabus has been good in many instances, it appears that the student's do not miss having a syllabus. As a result of this, I continue to chat about and post the relevant materials in the classroom and I email them on pertinent matters.
In reviewing the material about effective communication, CPA was identified. I didn't even know that there was a name (acronym) to what I was doing! I was pleased to see this in print. Thank you!
Tina,
Good, you know! Many of us are natural educators and use what is natural to us which are good teaching techniques, even online!
Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Tina,
WOW! How do your faculty feel about that? I actually view the syllabus as a contract between the students and me!
