Online Learning
I find the course interesting in that online learning is in essence, the collection of data that is gathered while learners are engaging in the online experience. This course allowed me to view online learning as an opportunity to enhance student performance. I have learned that fewer learners will drop out or fail if the instructor keeps the student engaged with the online learning process. If a learner isn't faring well throughout the course, then he/she is less likely to be motivated to remain enrolled. As a result, a learner will simply stop participating. Your thoughts?
Communication is definitely key. I use communication in a variety of ways in my online courses. I make 3-4 announcements a week. I email them once a week in regard to the academic progress. I also conduct a weekly live lecture and I contact them via phone 2-3 times throughout the term. The various types of communication assures the students that there is truly someone one on the other end of the computer. Someone that cares about their progress and success.
I have done this online learning and agree it is a collection of data but I like not having to absorb it all at once.Sometimes I feel overwelmed by engaging students and there is that feeling of are they really trying.I think being in their own enviroment and giving them reasurance thruogh the online process helps with the overall learning process
