I will definitely be delving into the resources provided in this course to stay abreast of the online education space.

This was a great reiteration of the use of technology in the online environment. It helps to stay mindful of the benefits of using technology and the impact on student outcomes.

Comment on Maria Perez's post: Agree 100% - to run an online class, technology is key!  You have to have Instructors on board & eager to be tech savvy and / or learn how to be.  This is a tech driven world.

Our program has some video/face-to-face elements, but I really like the idea of instructors taking video of themselves out in the world to humanize themselves. I think this can be a great relationship tool and make the students feel more at home with the instructors, generally.

Technology is taking on new forms, especially with generative AI. I think we need to harness it rather than demonize it, because students are going to become adept with it, whether we like it or not. I tend to think this kind of tool has no place in a humanities classroom, though. In these courses, we think for ourselves--that is the whole point.

Technology is your friend; it is a tool to help you.  The number of resources available for instruction has grown tremendously so you may need to experiment with what works best for you. I like REMIND, Mentimeter, Khan Academy, and quizlet.

Although technology can be difficult to manage at times it is key to online leanring.

Many students today want to use their smart phones or tablets to take courses.

The platforms that are made accessible to facilitate online education and the technological sources used to facilitate this form of education.

you must be proficient in technology

Comment on Todd Grzech's post: Agreed

there are multiple "literacies" at work in the online environment, and finding ways to speak through all of them can be enhanced with a myriad of online teaching tools and techniques.

Technology trends in education facilitate education and provide means for retention. Early warnings and detection of low performance could be corrected by immediate feedback. Technology-mediated communication facilitates relationships providing stereotyping-free environments. Online education will continue growing.

The factors that John Suler has highlighted were spot on to my experience.

Technology is a need! Technology is magic tool to learn

I might try a video welcome instead of a written one.  Even trying to make it a point to have a face-to-face meeting with students will help retain students.

Having a supportive instructor that makes timely responses is crucial for some students.

Online learning can be a challenge for both the student and the instructor. Continuous communication is key to maintaining successful students.

We must embrace technology and different styles of learning because technology is all around and we must adapt to the current times.

Online technology provides various ways to engage with student, including chats, discussion boards, video or audio meetings, emails, announcements, and collaborative group projects.
