Career Services

A Career Services department would be an awesome resource for our students. Hopefully, USA will implement one in the future.

USA has added the Student Success Advisor position to each campus, which is forward progress for retaining and graduating students. I believe they will continue to work with students even after graduation. This would be a great agenda topic to add to the weekly staff meeting for further discussion.

Yvette ,
Ideally career services should be working with the student from day one. After all, it is our goal to graduate and place the student in the position of their dreams.

Angeline,
That is a critical role in every school. Having student success first and foremost as a priority will ensure that your students get the quality education and success right that you were looking for.

Career Services is a critical service for our students. Students take the first step to a new career by enrolling in school. Sometimes the steps that follow after enrollment are more difficult then a student expected.(Tutoring Needed?) Sometimes there are life changes a student did not anticipate.(Carpooling Needed). Career Services can assist and guide a student, who may be experiencing difficulties, and may not know what steps to take next. The entire staff needs to direct and walk a student who needs assistance to Career Service for help and guidance to assure success for that future graduate

Kim ,

Career services should be part of the student experience from day one. After all, we are looking to have success after they complete their education. Success is by finding the position of their dreams in their career field.

I agree, I need to know the student and the skill level before placing them in the right job not just anywhere

Career Service Dept. is very important . Students are able to find open positions or get help with resume writting.

I totally agree with this statement, Patty. We oftentimes make certain to introduce the student to Career Services on their first visit to the campus. We do this as routine so that the student establishes rapport with not only the admissions representative, but with Career Services also. We try hard to help tto cultivate the relationship between student and career services because we want the student to build a sort of mind-set that their ultimate accomplishment will be acheived with the relationship with career services. Oftentimes, the relationship is built with Instructors and little time is spent with career services. We understand that the relationship between Instructor and student will happen naturally because the two see each other everyday. It is for that reason we push more relationship building with career services personnel to help the student understand that all their professional needs and preparation and vital information pertaining to their industry are primarily the responsibility of Career Services representative.

It is very important for stundents to have career services in their school. It is a way to help our students prepare for job search and placements.
