To start, I think it is important for all departments to hold regular staff meetings to discuss updates, happenings and events that will effect the office.
Admissions representatives, when able, will also want to attend marketing and community meetings, press conferences, career days, and special ceremonies on campus to stay up-to-date with policies, requirements and general information regarding your institution.
It is also helpful to sit with prosepctive students while they meet with program directors and/or department heads. This helps to learn about what kind of questions the students will have along with what kind of information those academic advisers are communicating.
I am always researching information to enhance my work ethics. I hold weekly staff meeting to keep staff informed about policies and regulatory requirements. I also attend conferences and participate in online training courses to keep me well informed about my job, the institution and other important information.
We have two weekly meetings. One is to update the DOR and Director of the progress of students who have applied to the institution. Our second weekly meeting is to discuss our progress as a team and new strategies to be implemented in the recruitment/admissions progress.
At my University we have meetings all the time. We have a university wide faculty & staff meeting that happens a handful of times every year to discuss university wide topics. From projects, to new hires, to financial issues, to campus events.
We also have a weekly admissions meeting in our office in which graduate admissions staff discusses the tasks for the week.
We also have weekly meetings with marketing and social media sectors in order to discuss current projects and practices.
I attend monthly meetings with our director and owners as well as attend conferences in education about my industry and specific job. I will also be sitting in on a few classes over the next few weeks to gain further understanding of my student's perspectives.
There are lots of national meetings that I must attend as the director of our institution. I attend meetings in states, such as Florida, where a large amount of our students come from. I also attend national agency meetings because most of the time, the regulations they pass will be required by the state.
We have daily meetings to hear updates on rules and regulations, students, programs and share valuable information.
We have a weekly meeting in our Admissions department to go over the previous week, and to learn additional relevant admissions information. We also have university wide meetings to handle the university policies and goals. I feel that these are important because it is great to brush up on previously acquired information, as well as learn about new information.
Meetings and conferences are very important to keep up to date with changes. Reviewing changes are also important to make sure that the information is understood correctly.

If one thing is consistent, it's change. I have been in an enrollment position for over three years, and policies and procedures have changed multiple times. In fact, I walked in this morning to a change that's being implemented during the first week of November.
Meetings, whether group or one-on-one, are key. As I mentioned in a previous post, being behind on information is not a position that you should ever want to find yourself in.
