I'm a mix of a couple of these, traditional, gen-x, and baby boomer. I like as much info as possible. From books, the internet, and hands on.
Interesting! Would you say that the traits from one or two of the styles is/are more dominant of another?
gen-x fits me best. growing up i watched how my parents did it and took my cues from them. figured out what i liked and what i didnt and went from there
I believe my generational Style is a cross between Traditionalist and Baby Boomer. I think it came to be because of the influence of my parents and grandparents. They instilled their beliefs in me and it became a part of who I am as a person.
My generational style student that we face every single day is baby Boomer We are so open to try other styles but we look forward to focus on those that give us a combo style to be much better in our daily work to improve our quality of being much better every day. I was a Baby boomer when I saw myself looking for a career.
Being the mother of 6, grandmother of 26 and greatgrandmother of 3 I can interact with all generations.I learned to understand their behaviors, even though they may not always be to my liking.
I am of the old school but have been able to keep up with todays technology pretty well.
Congratulations! Technology is moving so fast that keeping up can be tricky. What do you find the best part of the changing technology?
Wow! Having all those generations around you gives you the opportunity to practice your communication with each. You also bring up a terrific point, we don't always have to like the different generational behaviors to understand them or to be able to communicate with that generation. Awareness is the first step and then modifying our style to relate to the other generation is next. Thank you Wilhelmina.
I resonate most with Generation Xers because I am one! I think it is much easier to communicate and get a long with someone who comes from your same type of background and generation style. I appreciate boomers hard work ethic and the traditionalists old-fashioned ways of doing things. Somehow life seemed more simple and less complicated back then. We have a lot more technology that is supposed to help us in our lives today, but it almost seems to make it more hectic!
It's crazy how technology can be both help and a hinder at times. How do you you adjust your approach with students or co-workers from a different generation Tim?

The generation style that resonates most with me is Gen X. I am very independent and learned from my family. I suppose it was my upbringing that has made me who I am today.
I'm on the cusp on Generation X and being a millenial. I was born in the last few months of 1979, but I identify more with baby boomers. I am an only child and was raised by a single mother and surrounded by people of a generation older than me. I think this could have rubbed off! I pick up on body language more often than actual words and always prefer people to be very direct with me. I also don't like to just get bits of information. I really want to know everything that's going on.
Gambel,
I would agree that our upbringing contributes to our personality style. Do you have any attributes of the other generational styles?
Dr. Jean Norris
Very interesting. You have the influence of multiple generations which can work to your benefit if you can connect with all three. How do you find this helps you in your role?
I think it helps because as an admissions rep I work with people of all generations. I find it just as easy to talk with a 50 year old as an 18 year old. It helps because I'm comfortable with all different age groups and I'm able to empathize with them and also motivate them to make career changes.
I find it easy to connect and engage with all generational styles. The training I have recieved over the years have allowed me to mirror my perspective students, however generation X resonates with me the most simply becasue I can connect easier with my peers.
It makes sense that you would connect easiest with your peers. Mirroring is a great tool for connecting with the various generational styles. Keep up the great work!
Generation X is what I can relate to the most. Hearing a message or sending a email works for me.
Does knowing this help you understand your needs and how you might need to adjust your approach with other generational styles?
