Remotes

Has anyone had a great deal of success hosting remote (radio) events as an advertising means for their career college?

Hi Paige-
We have traditionally seen success hosting radio remotes as a means to drive potential leads.

The key is putting into a strong support schedule, 1-2 weeks out to advertise the event before the actual remote and have a strong call to action within the spot to drive people to the event.
Additionally, it's imperative to devise a strong game plan for the event. Ask the radio station if they can give out free tickets to local events, food or some other incentive to get people to show up. Maybe you plan on hosting a blood drive (in conjunction with the remote) if you want to emphasize your Medical Assisting program, etc.

What's important is you plan these out well in advance--and have a plan of action for your staff, the DJ and any other involved entities. You won't see success if you throw them together, nor if you just host a remote and expect people to show up.

At my school we made some radio remotes and we have had very good results along with other collateral activities and has been a success.

How long does a remote event usually last? What do you think the minimum desired audience would need to be when contemplating whether to plan a remote?
