Administration,faculty, and staff all need to be properly trained in all the levels and ways we interact with students to ensure we operate within the authorized guidelines.

in my position I work closely with education and financial aid. Working together helps the student and me. We work well together to make sure everything is working in the right direction

Policing myself and regular training/refresher
Regular trainings and mentoring help ensure that a culture of compliance is promoted and maintained.
We meet regularly to go over compliance. Our Admissions Director stays up-to-date on changes in compliance laws and regulations. She shares any changes with us. We are also required to sign a new code of conduct at least every 6 months to make sure we are compliant. Compliance is talked about frequently and it stays fresh in our minds when speaking with prospective students.
I going to practice what I preach. In my department we all will have meetings to make sure everyone is following the exact guidelines to keep us in compliance at all times.
To keep the school in compliance with all rules and regulations, every employee should follow and refer to the school catalog all the time.
The best practice is by practicing what is preached and making sure that the prospective students understand what they are going for.
Staying away from using superlatives in regards to your school. Staying compliant will ultimately be best for all parties involved and will take communication within the facility as well.

While my day to day falls outside of this issue, as with anything, modeling good practices is always the best way to go. Also, open communication to discuss those 'fine line' matters is imperative to keep everyone on the same page and informed.
Ask questions and research laws.
To cultivate a compliant culture we highlight a different compliance topic at each of our weekly staff meetings. We go around the horn and give examples of when we had to be mindful of the particular rule or regulation and how we made sure to maintain compliance. This helps keeps the rules top of mind for everyone!

Some best practices are always representing your school's program correctly, be forthcoming and honest, and acting with integrity. Additionally, there are checks and balances that can be incorporated such as call recordings and weekly training to review compliance.
One of the best practices in keeping in compliance will be to refer students to the correct person or department to answer certain questions. I will stay up to date on rules and regulations to ensure students are receiving correct information.
