Reporting is a necessary part of the overall process. It helps to assure the processes are being done correctly.
Milenka,
Do you have any specific ideas on how to monitor your reporting to ensure accuracy in the process?

I think is very important and beneficial for me to meet with the students and hears any concern that they have. For my students I make sure that they understand the financial aid process and the requirements of the school for them to succeed in our programs. We have an open door policy if anyone wish to speak to the FA Director they can come in anytime. I believe listening to the student we can do our best to meet their needs as long as they follow our polices and procedures of our school.
ROBERTO,
Your approach is outstanding and I agree that it is important to listen to your students. It is equally as important to take their feedback and utilize it for improvement in your Business and Financial Aid Office. I commend you for your approach with an open door policy to ensure continued improvement on the overall success of the student and school.

How beneficial is reporting, VERY check and balance is a way of life... Therefore, when it come to financial aid reporting it is important to the students and to the school needs :-)
Corinna,
Reviewing financial aid process and procedures is very important to ensure that the student has a beneficial experience with the FA Department. It is necessary for all aspects of the process to be checked to ensure the accurate processing of the financial aid paperwork. It has been my experience taking the time to review work done previously is a great way to find any oversights made in the initial review process.
Your participating in this forum is appreciate. I am looking forward to your feedback on other forums in this module.

As one campus in a system of 20, most of the reporting responsibilities fall on our corporate office for review. However, I am responsible for monitoring NSLDS alerts for our campus specifically and I take that responsibility very seriously. I pull new NSLDS pages for both grant and loan history on every student for whom we are alerted, we make notes to any changes to aid in our CampusVue system, we upload screenshots of those pages to our online student files and then we take appropriate action. I am glad that NSLDS alerts me to any changes in currently enrolled students once we add them to the Transfer Monitoring List because I want to ensure that we are pulling the most aid we can for each of our students but that we aren't pulling aid we should not.
Elysia,
Your process seems to be a solid approach utilizing the NSLDS system to enusure your student management system is in sync. All aspects of tracking on students are important, especially Transfer Monitoring is critical when dealing with online students since these students may move between many online institutions.
Appreciate you input on the importance of Financial Aid Reporting.

Reporting would be amongst an important factor in my position. A school should have to be in compliance with the Department of Education, through proof of documentation along with beneficial ways of preventing error(s) and loss of FSA programs.
Acethly,
It is important that you have policies and procedures in place as you move forward into financial aid to insure compliance with documents, reporting and other areas of the school. Developing a plan to guarantee the proper collection of documentation and timely reporting will be critical to the overall success of the process for your school and students. There is some great information on the ifap website that will provide you with the requirements and numerous workshops you may attend to insure that you stay current on all of the requirements.
Best wishes to you in this very exciting and fast-pace area of financial aid.

I spend the majority of my day working reports. I have a check off list of what reports need to be done and when.
Nikki,
Is this the most efficient use of your time? Is there a way to export the reports into a format that may be filtered to expedite the process. It is important that we do not get lost in the weeds. If we do this can cause delays in processing for the students.

Reporting keeps us accountable and also it helps us stay on top of the students files. This way we not only comply with the reporting but have all the information necessary to give to our students when they have questions.
Josefina,
Accountable is very important to the institution, staff and students. We have to inpect what we expect and guarantee that all are recording and reporting correctly. It only takes one oversight to result in an issue for the college and students.

Reporting helps us stay on top of our students files to be able to meet their needs and be able to answer any questions they have. As Accreditation Coordinator for this Institution accountable is very important to our college, the staff and the students, since any little mistake can result in an issue that will impact the institution and our students
Millie, I could not agree more. Reporting requirements not only provide a way for the Department to monitor schools but it also provides a way for the school to monitor itself. keep up the good work.

I FEEL IT IS VERY BENEFICAL IT'S IS A REMINDER OF WHAT'S NEED TO BE DONE TO ASSIST STUDENT'S ACCURATELY AND EFFECTIVELY.
Reporting is crucial. A lot of the reporting is done by upline, but the reports that I work keep me on top of all my students. It allows me to be able to monitor and controll everything so that there are no issues
Reporting is very beneficial in being able to meet our students' needs. Being able to produce accurate reports allows us to stay on top of things and be able to increase efficiency in the office, and better respond to students' needs and questions.
Hi Janet,
Yes, reporting allows us to catch and correct any errors. It's great to have a check and balance system in place so that there is more than one set of eyes on any report/publication to make sure errors are caught before it comes time for an audit.
