Activities at our campus
Our campus does not need anything to improve the school involvemet/activities! We do everything from Easter Egg hunts, to Hot cocoa and cookies in the winter months, to Halloween booths from each department and the students go to each, gather candy, and vote on the best booth! Once again, I will say it....We are blessed to have such a great team of workers!

WOW! What great ideas. It sounds like you have an active student body. We find that when we hold student events we normally do not get a good turnout. Can you give me some tips on how to get the student participation?
Our school holds a lot of activites as well. We have had issues with attendance in the past during our between quarter retention activites. We have tried a few different things to increase participation. One thing that worked was to hold a drawing for all of the participants. Another thing that worked better was to have mini seminars or workshops and then offer a certificate. We've had seminars on professionalism, conflict in the workplace, etc. The students LOVE to come to these and to get the certificate to put in their portfolio. It recreases retention and helps out the students.
Looks like our campus has a lot of planning to do but this was a good start with the comments mentioned here. thanks!
So many of our activities have been cut from the budget. Yet our students persevere, mainly with fund-raising events like food sales. Plus with our school being a two-year system, the atmosphere changes constantly. Still what remains is our students' desire to be part of the school.
David,
Yes, students want their school experience to be a meaningful experience in and out of the classroom.

We have a Student Ambassador program here which enables a group of students to participate in all the events and serve as a model for other students. In addition, these Ambassadors help promote the different activities to other students.
To solicit other students to participate in campus wide events, we advertise by utilizing social media (Facebook), put flyers everywhere, e-mail blasts, announce in classes, and write on our white boards of upcoming events. This way we have hit every avenue for encouraging students to participate in events.
Kristin,
Peer to peer programs such as Student Ambassador helps build a student community and thus a connection to the school.
