Departmental coordination

In order to have a properly functional educational facility, the task of coordinating all departments is and always should be the campus president. My organization has an excellent coordinator that monitors all functions with the emphasis on completion rates, tutoring, etc. To that end, all students benefit as a result.

Rick,

Most schools depend on the Dean/Director of Education to focus on completion rates and tutoring. Why do you feel the Campus President should have this role?

Jeffrey Schillinger

The campus president oversees the completion rates of all the instructors at UTI via the Education managers. Any discrepancies will be addressed if necessary.

Car can not run with one flat tire therefore all we need to work together for students and organization success. Students success is everyone responsibility and all we have to share work load together.

Atul,

A car may run with a flat tire, but the ride will not be very smooth. :)

There often seem to be conflicting goals among the various departments within a career college. What are some specific things your campus does to ensure all departments are working together?

Jeffrey Schillinger

I also am part of an amazing group of people who all work together and back each other up at busy times. I give most of the credit to our campus president who no matter how busy always has time for anyone.

Todd,

What are some other specific behaviors that make your school amazing?

Jeffrey Schillinger

Mr. Costello,
I work for a trade school as Director of Student Operations. Our school has weekly “Leadership” meetings that include all of the other directors and the Campus President. During these meetings we discuss each department’s successes and challenges and decide what course of action needs to be taken. Directors are encouraged the share the minutes of the “leadership meeting” with their subordinates, so all faculty and staff are kept in the loop.
