Pre-recorded lectures
Is anyone out there using something new and creative in place of an online, pre-recorded lecture? Please desribe what you are doing.
just dont think that prerecorded lectures are the way to do it. it is to cold and stand-offish.
I lecture Accounting 101 and my students love the way I form a company and how to do the accounting. All of them pass because I do video's,,,only way to learn that.
I use the outdoors, specifically the beach at Lake Michigan as a supplement or replacement to pre-recorded lecture. I use an online portal to deliver instructions and goals for the students to follow for a three-dimensional design assignment. they go to a predermined location and complete part of the assignment on their own, record it with their phone cameras or as video and we evaluate and continue their work in the next class meeting. I teach studio courses so the in-class work has always been a feature of what I do. I enjoy the opportunity to use the online format to deliver information and instructions. we don't necessarily get more accomplished but it gives the students one more opportunity to discover solutions to a problem independent of me. sometimes most of the work happens outside of classroom.
