Learned alot about handling disruptive students and defusing situations. Seems to be daily issue with todays students...
Knowing your subject matter AND being able to "read" your students is imperative. So many times , I have found myself modifying the lesson to accomodate where the students heads are and to pull them into participating in their own learning.
Students have got to see the value, in their career paths and in their lives, in order to truly open up to let the learning take place.
When that happens the students do not mind making mistakes and errors. The joy of learning becomes the focus.
I thought the course was a very effective teaching too. Although I’ve been teaching for a number of years, this course provided me with new methods and techniques for managing my classroom. Moreover, I found the information regarding the four styles of management to be insightful and instructive. It also helped me to asses my own teaching style/methods as it relates to being a more effective instructor.
