Handling Scope Creep

Some ideas toward handling scope creep are:

-breath and meditate on the problem before making a decision

-sleep on the problem for a day or two providing deadlines will be met

-clarify ideas on problems by communicating to stakeholders and maybe a possible internal workplace blog or threaded discussion

-getting everyones ideas involved can give the project manager a more enhanced way in making a sound logical decision

Lee Demuth

I like the first two ideas breath and mediate. We often at times make quick decisions without thinking. With this practice hopefully we can see better choices in the long run.

I try to always think before I speak my mind. i find that speaking emotionally never gets me very far.

The breathing really helps. I get sweaty when I'm nervous....

Self-discipline is the key to effectively managing scope creep. We as facilitators are constantly under pressure to make decisions or solve problems immediately. We can't be afraid to say "let me think about this". Some people may see this as hesitation due to indecisiveness. We have to overcome this stereotype and use the resources we have to make an informed and effective decision.
