It is not suprising that 1 out of every 2 empolyees don't feel valued on their job. I think people in higher positions of power should never miss an opportunity to say thank you to their employees. It goes a long way. I do think this is one of the main reasons that there is a high rate of teachers in public education now.
@Taybrok : It's amazing how a simple thank you goes a long way. I think you're right - demonstrating appreciation is a simple way to influence employees' work experience. When you say this is one of the reasons there is a high rate of teachers in public education now, what reason are you referencing? Also, do you believe there is a difference between public and private education in terms of employee engagement, retention and/or attrition? Thanks for adding to the discussion.
Most people leave an organization because they are not comfortable being a team player. Either they are asked to leave or they leave on their own. It is important for employees, managers and executives to be comfortable in their organization and its vision to function well as a team.
It seems that it is a sign of the times that more is expected for the same. Verbal thanks goes a long way,
Every employee should feel valued. The more valued they feel the better they will do for the employer and the less likely they are to leave
