Sheila,
You said it best. Managing awareness in an online environment is extremely challenging. This requires all employees to show sensitivity to our online students.
Title IX, VAWA and the Clery Act require that, as online instructors we stay vigilant of sexual harrassment as a primary concern due to the online instruction method that we use to communicate with and amoungst our students.
Pushing students to think about the content and how it applies is more benefical then just presenting content.

Be prepared and thoughtful about the material you are presenting.
Be excited about the subject and let it show!
What is your favorite tool or trick to ensure that your course is meeting Accessibility?
Overall, I think the best thing that we can do for our students is to have an open door and welcoming attitude.
I found it helpful to understand some of the AT tools available. The advancement in technology and assistance can quickly become a financial burden.
I found it interesting and insightful that we need to be sure that all of the information that we are posting on our online class is in respect to accomidation. Failure to do so would mean lawsuit - that is a big watchout/awareness learning for me.
