It's hard for me to put a 24 year old fully into an "adult learner" framework, but this module suggests that 17-24 year olds are the most common age of adult learners. I am eager to see how this all ties together throughout the module.

This module had some good tips for overcoming common challenges with implementing active learning.

I bookmarked the video about making my ppts more accessible. I hadn't considered those things before, and I'm so grateful to have this resource!

I really need to get better with my wait times on questions. I am going to try taking a breath before calling on anyone or before answering students. I'd love to hear other techniques that others find useful to remember to do this, especially at first when it feels awkward. I am having a hard time imagining the actual flow of a discussion when there is a student who immediately puts their hand up and you don't call on them. Other students are seeing that, and they're probably expecting that you'll call on that student, since they were first. Are… >>>

Rephrasing procedural questions to increase student engagement is so useful! I'm going to try asking "Where do you think most students get stuck on this?" when I'm explaining assignments. I had also forgotten the incredible increase in student success when more open questions are asked.

We can be liable for student injury if we can't establish that a student acted inappropriately and not in direct violation of our duty of care.

This version of learning styles was new to me. (diverging, assimilating, etc).

All domains are important, and including elements of all of them will improve student learning and motivation.

I can do a LOT better at providing them with structured outlines and even graphic organizers of content, to see how each part connects with the others. I do provide note-taking outlines for some classes, and the students like them. I have another first year class that could benefit from that as well.

Frequent reviews are crucial. You can vary the applications and methods of review for more thorough integration of material.
