Activity

It is important to understand the life experiences and what motivates adult learners to meet their learning needs. It is also important to provide the adult students a supportive environment for learning and incorporate memory-building techniques, especially for the older adult learners.

I have learned that the majority of adult learners are motivated by life experiences and many look for purpose in life. Adult learners may require more time to learn content compared to younger learners. 

After learning the different characteristics between the five generations in this course, I am able to utilize this information to help the students learn and help understand each student better. It also will help me to understand their background to help build rapport with the students. 

I learned that instructors are to plan courses and lesson carefully and to have enough activities on-hand to fill up gaps in classroom time to keep students engaged and alert. The same is true for planning activities of learning to have enough time for the intended lesson plan. 

I have learned that incorporating a variety media and interest to the class will help keep students motivated and help see their chosen career within reach. 

I have learned that a new instructor will undergo rough periods as they develop their personal style of learning that will engage with the students and offer the various learning styles. Also, reflecting and journaling class experience will be helpful to improve teaching skills. 

I learned that instructors are to be the Instructional Delivery Expert (IDE) in their field and creates credibility with the students when they are informed the expertise and background towards subject being taught. It is also important establish classroom expectations with the students from the very first day of class. 

I have learned that providing students course content and expectations through the syllabus is critical. It becomes a plumb line for the student's success in the course. I also have learned that open communication is key between student and instructor and amongst peers to promote teamwork. 

Safety in the lab environment is upmost important. The need to highlight the importance of safety in the lab to the students requires addressing at each lab class. The failure to address wearing PPE's in the class breaches the duty if the instructor in the class. 

Evaluating students can take be done through formative and summative assessments. Formative assesses progress during the course and the summative form assesses at the end the course. Assessing students progress in the laboratory setting can be difficult as it can time for students to time to master a skill depending on their speed at which each learns.
