Documentation of safety instruction is important to reduce teacher exposure from liability. 

I was surpised to learn from our school counselor how many students in our school have suffered serious trauma in their lives. 

The best mentor I had was a teacher that was very professional and positive. She had no clue about what I was teaching. She encouraged me throughout the year and reminded me that mistakes were going to happen.

It is true that CTE teachers often work closely with students on projects, during trips and after school hours. Informal relationships can develop very easily. Students become very comfortable with their teacher due to the working environment and length of time. It is important for teachers to maintain boundaries with students when the students view the relationship as more relaxed and informal due to the familiarity of the course.

This introduction reveals the broad support of CTE. The support and development start locally with classroom teachers, and extend to state and nationwide set of standards for secondary and postsecondary programs.
