There are a number of ways to project expectations for Oline Learning though instructor modeling, stating them verbally, and connecting with students on a personal level. Each of these stategies will help students feel more comfortable and instructors can effectively support the online experience.

With the proliferation of Zoom live instruction, should students always have their cameras on during sessions?

The CMS is the most important aspect of the Online Delivery System. If the student or faculty member does is not familiar with the tools available they are not maximizing the experience. Also if the CMS does not function correctly, the experience for everyone can be very frustrating. Good training for students and faculty is very important.

I learned how students are motivated by both internal and external stimuli. Internal motivation is more enduring but external rewards serve a purpose as well. Some situations students are motivated by both.

Two ways I can improve student motivation are through making them feel secure and providing some autonomy in the classroom. There area number of ways to do this through instruction, evaluation and altering class procedures to help motivate students.
