I learned a lot about why Title IX exists and how it protects students from any unwanted situations

I did not know that other government programs override the FERPA Act and that the government can access information without needing the student's permission

FERPA is about student rights just as much as it is about student privacy. Records are obtainable but under certain procedures

FERPA is a necesssary issue that all teachers need to have an understanding about. 

Faculty has a duty to protect their students' privacy and should be held acountable 

letting the students know that we all make mistakes and it is ok. Establishing trust and empathy will help motivate the students to be more engaged in the class

Engaging students that seem to be lacking focus or getting bored is vital to their success

Adult learners have previous experiences that they like to apply to their education. It is important to build rapport with your students and learn their learning styles.

discussing career goals with students will help teachers find a teaching style that helps all students in the class
