Adult learners come to school with real world knowledge and experience. Often these adults have learned the incorrect or unsafe way to complete a technical task (This is the way my Dad taught me). What is the best way to shift and change their methods without damaging their self esteem?

Non traditional students are very proud. It may be hard to get them accept extra assistance as this is viewed as weakness within their culture. What is the best way to suggest extra support for these students?

What is the best way to keep a students attention when changing to another type of teaching technique? Especially if leaving the student’s preferred type learning?

Motivation. Without formal test what is the best way to convey to the student that they gained from lesson. The instructor may realize that the student progressed. The instructor may praise the student but the student does not have a feeling of personal accomplishment.

Focusing on class. Many adult learners find it hard to focus on class. Life issues such as money, family, and career change can take away from learning. What are some of the ways to keep them on task?
