This is a good course to help understand why some students are motivated and some are not. It is very satisfying to me to be able to reach the have not's and help them delvelop into good students that understand the content and effective ways to study. I believe this course has given me more tools to facilitate these new approches in the classroom.

Liked vs. Respected

Do not concern yourself with being liked. Be professional, fair and consistant and you will earn your students respect. They may not like you when they are a student, but they will appreciate you when they get that first job.

Angry Students

When encountering an angry student I find it best to listen first. Be calm and help them find a solution to the problem by giving them options, not advise. Do not get sucked into an argument with them if you are why they are upset. Document the incident.

The know it all student

The know it all student doesn't really know it all or they wouldn't be there. When you ask a question and they answer, incorrectly. I find it important to not point out that they are wrong in front of the whole class. Find ways to support their comment with the correct answer without embarassing them.

Real World Experiance

I try to give as many examples as I can from my experiance in the field as it pertains to current topics in the class. I find my students are able to understand why they have to truly understand and learn all course content that way. Not just what they think they need to know.

Stress caused by coworkers

I am given little to no instruciton about how to complete my job from an administrative standpoint. I find it to be very stressfull to be told that I should have been doing something all allong when I have never been instructed by anyone to do so.

New Class Prep

I find it easier to prepair a daily schedule before a new class starts . It saves a huge amount of time throughout the quarter to complete all the other tasks that are required.

Student Participation

I have a difficult time with students who just show up everyday. They do little to no work while they in class and nothing outside the classroom. They have the "C" is passing mentality. I was never that student. At times, it's hard for me relate to these students. I feel I care more for their success than they do.
