Having a plan B is always useful when plan A is not turning out as you planned.  Separating students into groups helps them stay engaged.

At the start of each class, I tend to evaluate the class.  If they are more visual learners, instill more illustrations to power points to enphasize on the content.

Being more attentive to observation of the atmosphere of the room and students.

I used to worry about the what ifs when a new class would begin, but being prepared takes the jitters out and confidence is regained.

Going over the syllabus and setting requirements and expectations is a must.  Always find a common ground with students and be approachable.  Show your human side by sharing common experiences.

Intrinsic motivators is our goal.  Using extrinsic motivators such as Kahoot serves to incourage students and help them to intrinsic motivation.

I do tend to offer supportive responses when I recieve a vague response to a question.  I try to make students comfortable when answering, especially those students who only answer through chat and not verbally.  I also will try to implement more variety of choice when giving assignments or projects.
