Student involvement and engagement are the keys to active learning .

" Online students must take responsibility for their own learning when taking a course which uses active learning techniques.

I need to always remember that " The core element of active learning activities are that students must read, write, discuss, reflect or be engaged in the problem solving.

"Online instructors must ensure students know how to use blogs and understand why they are important to the course learning outcomes.

I will always remind myself that "ACTIVITIES THAT WORK IN ONE COURSE MAY NOT WORK IN ANOTHER COURSE. THIS IS DEPENDENT ON THE COURSE CONTENT, LEARNING OUTCOMES, CLASS CULTURE AND PURPOSE OF USING SOCIAL MEDIA."

"Rubrics should benefit the students and help the instructor consistently evaluate the assignment."

I can really say that using rubrics is very important as part of student expectations, "like gives you a benchmark upon which you can determine specific level of mastery."

Online instructors should use multiple ways of assessing students abilities and address a variety of learning styles.

By simply posting information or materials through an LMS does not ensure accessibility. 

It is important for online instructor to remember that their institution is by law responsible for making sure that all materials meet U.S. federal law standard.
