I think that this would apply to all schools. Students should be made to adhere to certain "cumbersome safety requirements" they will find the same regulations out in the field. Since these are no longer "new" they are easier to handle, or get accustomed to.

I have always included this in my lab experiments for years. Basically in situations requiring students to work together to troubleshoot a problem.

I believe it is vital to understand learning styles and brain functions into the course. I had no idea that we were doing this when we were doing for all these years. Application is extremely important to the adult learning.

The enthusiasm an instructor demonstrates during lectures can definitely affect interest as well as retention. Its important to keep students motivated so they will look forward to being in class everyday. There's an art to lecturing on boring subject matter to ensure that the students are grasping the subject. Therefore it's the instructor's responsibility to try and spice things up by adding little life experiences at the right time and place to keep it interesting.

Often online learning requires reading material that competes with the cure for insomnia. I find that I have to take small breaks to refocus the students and try to discuss what they have just read. The majority of our participants are here for hands-on specific skills which is harder than the usual on-line material.

To keep students satisfied with the this pace, it is often necessary to find solutions as well as other means to keep your students focussed. I believe the course will take a natural progression if you know the material and can control the direction you want it to go. Student progression in the course is always an issue considering each has their own pace, while attempting to complete assignments, quizzes and projects before the next class meeting.

In demonstrating, I find that teaching depends upon maintaining the students attention while they are observating the manipulation and discussing the task at hand.

I consider reflection a key instructional improvement. As a new instructor, I needed to develop a method of collecting insight about how my students perceived their progress in my class. Through constant reflection improvement I can ask myself how can I improve the class. Soliciting inputs beyond course evaluations, can assists in improving Presentation skills, the classroom and the laboratory.

I have always used a checklist, is the most helpful thing I can have to help ease the first class nerves. By going through the items on the list it will be clear what has been dealt with and what has been left out.
