Active learning methods

My lectures appear to be more of a class discussion with students getting a chance to give their imput and help facilitate the discussions. Many times I do a mixture of lecture and activities. In most cases I will send my students out to lab as a gruop of three to troubleshoot a product and repair it with a time limit. Trying to simulate what it is like in the field. Then, we will meet back and discuss our experiences.

Hi Sudarshan Daniel,
Great point made! I love the idea of sharing guided notes with my students because they really do focus on the content at hand instead of focusing on taking notes.

Hi Patricia, My presentations are predominantly "guided lectures" as they foster better active learning environment, because students are more attentive and listen carefully to what is being taught rather than taking notes.I personally find it more productive as reflected by students' performance in unit exams that they take.

Hi Kevin,
I love your teaching style. Students love it when you teach by telling, showing, and doing.

In the Undercar class that I teach i like to discuss things while putting the parts in there hands, then go to lab and see how they work, then lecture on how they all work together and show them how to inspect and repair the componets.

Hi Wilfred,
I like how you make this exercise apply to the real world, and you even give your students a time frame that the work has to be completed. In the real world students must be productive within a particular time frame. Great learning experience!
