Assessments
This is an area that is always a 'work in progress' for me. Although it has been a wile since I wrote my own exam, I remember some of the difficulties I faced. I remember some of the tests I thought were the best measurement of learning the students struggled with. It seemed like I was always revising questions. I guess that's part of the process though. Even with some of the standard tests that are used in my courses now, I find that some students interpret some of the questions in different ways.
Hi Meggan - thanks for your post to the forum. Just as our students continuosly improve, so must we as teachers. It's always a work in progress as we strive to be the best we can be. Best wishes for continued success in your tdeaching career. - Susan
I find I revise many of my exams, even good ones, at least a little to be sure my questions are tailored to each particular class.
Writing a good test is difficult, but it is absolutely necessary if we are to really help our students. A good test will honestly reveal both what the student has learned and how effectively we have have taught them.
I really think that tests should involve a constant process of revision, just as the courses that we teach should constantly change to stay up to date and relevant.
Hi Lisa- Thanks for your post to the forum and a great reminder that we need to regularly review the assessments that we use. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
