color markers

I always use color markers to enhance the students learning experience. I separately my train of thought or subject with different colors.

pattara,
this is a great way to help students see where the thought shifts & changes.

I agree with color markers this separate ideas during writing outlines and the student sees a clearer picture.

I find colour markers help me to highlight key messages or words and helps focus the delegates on that message/word..
I also use different colour post-it notes, primarily for the delegates to presdent their ideas on a topic. So fo example if I pose a question or subject heading on a flipchart, I will arm the delegates with a variety of coploured post-its and give each colour a title (eg (illustrative only): Blue means communicating; Yellow means listening etc) and have them post their responses on the flipchart using the coloured post-its.

Cecilia,
yes this can be a great visual way to distinguish the material for the students.

I use the colored markers for different parts of diagrams. It helps to seperate the systems.

Robert,
I think the variety in colors is a great way to separate concepts.

I think color markers are a great idea, its separates ideas, outlines, important vocabulary words

I have noticed colored markers on the board help. The student focuses on the different colrs.Very effective!

Scott,
it really is a simple way to mix things up & get the attention of the students.

color markers are great especially when you differentiate two or more things like arteries with red color explaining oxygenated blood and veins in blue color revealing less oxygenated (deoxygenated blood).

Adnan,
yes, the color markers are a great & inexpensive way to assist with learning.

I have purchased colored gel pens for the students to use in correcting their peers documentation. I gave the students examples of how I preferred the documentation to be done. It is the responsibility of the student to identify who corrected the documentation. I use a totally different color to review. I have found this method effective. There is one problem, the reviewer is more discrimination on the peers papers then they are for themselves. They make the same mistakes.

We use color makers in automotive electrical classes when diagnosing electrical circuits in wiring diagrams to distinguish which part of the circuit is power, which part is ground, etc. This is a very visual way to help diagnose electrical faults.

Lorraine,
that is a challenge, but if you can show them how they see the mistakes in others' work maybe they'll start to notice in their own.

I use color markers when solving mathematical problems.
*Green for the formula
*Black for the process
*Red for the answer
This keeps all the numbers from running together.

Timothy,
I really like this idea (& wish some of my math instructors had done this). There are many little "tricks" like this that we can use & that helps to save money too.

I am a coding instructor so when I assign coding homework. I have the students come up to the board and write down their pathways in different colors, basically have them break it down so others can see how they did it.

Kimberly,
this is a great use of color as well as other learning techniques to help reach all learners.
